Ex-President Barack Obama tweeted on Saturday his firm support for MLB's moving the All-Star Game from Atlanta in protest of Georgia's voting reforms.

"Congratulations to @MLB for taking a stand on behalf of voting rights for all citizens. There’s no better way for America’s pastime to honor the great Hank Aaron, who always led by example."

MLB on Friday has formally decided to look for another venue for the All-Star Game and boycott the city of Atlanta.

The move will likely cost the city and its people a lot of money, and it is, ironically enough, expected that people of color and minority groups will be disproportionately affected by the move.

Georgia politician Stacy Abrams has split from many of her fellow Democrats in pleading for MLB to not move the All-Star Game because of this.

"Disappointed @MLB will move the All-Star Game, but proud of their stance on voting rights. GA GOP traded economic opportunity for suppression. On behalf of PoC targeted by #SB202 to lose votes + now wages, I urge events & productions to come & speak out or stay & fight. #gapol"

Responses to the tweet were mixed, but mainly critical of the ex-President's sentiments. Here are two great examples:

The above tweet shows a photo of a smiling Obama next to a smiling Louis Farrakhan, chief of the anti-Semitic and racist Nation of Islam.

So @MLB won’t play the @AllStarGame in Atlanta because showing an ID to vote is racist but showing one to buy a beer at that game is not? Please stay retired."
