"Congress has to decide whether or not the Department of Education goes away."
Balderson was speaking at a Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce business luncheon on Thursday where he said, "Congress has to decide whether or not the Department of Education goes away. Not the president, not Elon Musk. Congress decides." He said that while he respects everything that Trump is doing as well as the need for some of the executive orders from the president, “Congress has to do their work.”
Balderson wrote in a post on X on Thursday evening, “I fully support President Trump’s agenda to rein in our bloated federal government & put Americans first. Now, it’s time for Congress to act. It’s up to us on Capitol Hill to make permanent his executive actions, ensuring continuity in public policy from one administration to the next.”
During the speech, he also brought up the topics of inflation, supporting small business owners, as well as solar energy projects. In Trump’s first few weeks in office, he has taken action to sign a whole slew of executive orders and signed around 200 right after he was inaugurated.
Many of his executive orders on the first day had to do with cutting down on DEI in the federal government, illegal immigration, as well as unleashing the energy in the United States’ fossil fuel industry. As of late, more executive actions have been related to cutting back on spending at different executive agencies with DOGE.
