"There’s not very many tech companies that can talk about creating wealth for others rather than just profiteering, essentially."
Speaking Tuesday at Bloomberg Tech in London, Blair said the platform stands out among tech firms for generating wealth for its users rather than focusing solely on profit. “There’s not very many tech companies that can talk about creating wealth for others rather than just profiteering, essentially,” she said. “For us as a company, that makes us very proud.”
Blair added that the company regularly speaks with creators about how the platform has changed their lives. “They can continue to challenge themselves or build their fanbase or try something new, be a bit disruptive,” she said.
She also noted that many assume OnlyFans is an American company, even though it’s headquartered and was founded in the United Kingdom. “I always joke we’re a British company with a very American personality,” Blair said, laughing that “everyone kind of assumes that we’re American.” While the US remains its largest market, she said, “there’s a healthy number of British people” using the platform, reports Bloomberg.
The discussion also touched on how the site, known primarily for pornographic content, is seeing more athletes and entertainers join. Blair was joined by professional cricketer Tymal Mills, who recently began using the platform. Mills said many athletes are looking for new ways to earn income, a point echoed by WNBA player Liz Cambage, who recently told TMZ she earns more through OnlyFans than she did playing basketball.
“You know the WNBA salary,” Cambage said. “Not that hard to make more money doing anything. I feel like women gotta make more money playing the sport they love.”
