On Thursday, the Ontario government stated that that it had found problems in the way they have been reporting the number of people receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
The issue has to do with the fact that the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines require two doses, and the government has been incorrectly reporting people who have only received the first dose as having received both.
According to CTV, The Ministry of Health said that "Rather than provide data on the number of people who have been fully vaccinated inadvertently provided data on the number of doses administered to achieve full vaccination," and that "as a result, the number of people who have been fully vaccinated is half of what is currently listed."
On Wednesday, the official report was that over 96,000 people in the province of Ontario had been vaccinated, but on Thursday, after the correction, the correct count is 55,286 people having received both required doses of the vaccine, as the data page has been updated to correct the errors.
Ontario reported 2093 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Thursday, which is a two-month low.
