After a 26-year-old man fell from the 15th floor balcony of an apartment building while interacting with London police. The Special Investigations Unit was “notified and has invoked its mandate,” according to Global News.

Police report being called to Walnut Street in London, Ont. at around 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday. They said the call was “in relation to a man in distress.”

“At some point, the man was injured,” said a police release.

“He was transported to hospital by paramedic services with life-threatening injuries.”

No additional information is being released by police as the incident is being investigated by the SIU.

The SIU says that police reported to a unit on the 15th floor of an apartment building and one officer tried to speak with the man through a door that was barricaded shut.

The man fell from the 15th floor balcony shortly after that—hitting the ground below. He was then transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
