CFRA Ottawa spoke to President of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation (OSSTF) Harvey Bischof this morning and asked the Ontario teachers' union president if the teachers in his union would take a temporary pay cut from the government in order to reduce class sizes in Ontario.
Bischof told CFRA "nobody's pay has been cut in the pandemic" as he explained why they won't budge on their pay.
What he failed to mention is that 2.2 million Ontarians have lost their jobs or had hours reduced due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The OSSTF is currently battling the Ontario government over the reopening of schools. Bischof's union is "taking legal action as the Ford government fails to meet health and safety obligations" just days before school was set to begin.
