Global News claims Donald Trump fled from ‘female reporters’?—it’s not true

"You’ve said many times that the US is doing far better than any other country when it comes to testing. Why does that matter?" A reporter asked. "Why does this matter? Why is this a global competition to you if every day Americans are still losing their lives and we’re still seeing more cases every day?"

Trump replied "Well they’re losing their lives everywhere in the world. And maybe that’s a question that you should ask China. Don’t ask me, ask China that question, okay? When you ask them that question you may get a very unusual answer."

He then called on another reporter, but the first reporter asked "Sir, why are you saying that to me specifically?"

"I’m telling you, I’m not saying it specifically to anybody, I’m saying it to anybody who would ask a nasty question like that."

"It’s not a nasty question," she defended, "why does it matter?"

The whole exchange got a little testy when Trump tried to call on another reporter, but was interrupted by another journalist, Kaitlyn Collins of CNN, who had let the previous reporter ask her question about Trump’s intention with regard to specificity. He then called on another reporter.

The "gotcha" moment is that all of the journalists who asked questions prior to Trump finishing with responses were women. That’s right, there are lots of women journalists who have access to the President and can ask him questions on behalf of their mainstream media outlets.

Trump didn't turn away from these reporters because they were women. Instead, Trump turned away from reporters who wouldn't ask questions when they were called on, and these reporters were women. There’s a big difference.

This predilection to insinuate that identity is at the root of pretty much everything has gone off the rails. Trump didn't turn away from reporters because they were women, he turned away from reporters because he turns away from reporters at his leisure.
