The Post Millennial associate editor Ari Hoffman interviewed Fox News senior meteorologist Janice Dean on Talk Radio 570 KVI where they discussed New York Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo’s nursing home cover-up.
After Dean’s in-laws died from coronavirus only two weeks apart in different New York nursing homes, the Fox News senior meteorologist said she "decided to become an advocate on behalf of the 15,000 families that deserve answers."
Dean was at the forefront of exposing the scandal. She wrote an op-ed which led to a full investigation into Governor Cuomo’s nursing home cover-up by both the Department of Justice, after New York Attorney General Letitia James released a 76 page report detailing the cover-up.
When asked by Hoffman why she decided to take this task head on, Dean replied "Because I wasn’t seeing the coverage I expected about a Governor who put coronavirus positive patients in nursing homes for 46 days and then covered it up."
Hoffman asked Dean if she had any theories as to why Cuomo decided to place COVID-19 infected patients into nursing homes instead of other facilities in the city. "Well there are theories," said Dean. "And that’s why I’m hoping with the investigation that’s currently going on from the feds and the FBI that we will find answers like that. Why didn’t they use other facilities like you mentioned? Where did the March 25th orders come from? What were the origins from that? It wasn’t based on science."
"Many of Cuomo’s top health officials have quit in the last couple months," Dean continued. "Why is that? There’s rumors that he was listening to hospital lobbyists. That there was an exchange in money between hospitals and nursing homes. There are reports that COVID positive patients were getting double the amount of money if nursing homes took them in. Nursing homes didn’t want the patients but felt they had no choice."
Dean added, "All of these questions deserve answers and we haven’t gotten them yet."
Post Millennial’s Ari Hoffman went on to ask Dean why mainstream media failed to cover the story when the mandate was hidden in plain sight for all to see.
"The fact that this Governor went on to write a book about himself, celebrate himself, and went on all the major news networks; that’s one of the reasons why I am so outspoken," said the Fox News senior meteorologist.
"I would see the Governor on his brother’s show (CNN) night-after-night joking around while we were grieving and trying to find a place to host a funeral to bury my husband’s parents. The fact that they were joking around, that’s when my grief turned to rage," said Dean. "That’s why I decided to speak out. This Governor was celebrated and was never asked the tough questions about the nursing homes."
Dean listed off personality traits of the Governor, emphasizing that he is "the type of guy who is power hungry, belittles people, and intimidates them." When asked Dean believed that the media was covering the sexual harassment allegations against the Governor seemingly more than the nursing home scandal because they were more "salacious."
Dean said an apology from the Governor and an acknowledgment in the beginning of the pandemic that sending COVID-19 infected patients into nursing homes to infect more residents would have gone a long ways but Dean said "The fact that I’ve never heard him apologize or say 'I am so sorry for your loss'… I don’t think he has that capability in him."
