Victoria Police issued a $2,300 fine to a party host who allegedly failed to follow COVID-19 provincial guidelines.

Police stated that officers visited a suite twice in a multi-unit residential building on Friday to respond to noise complaints regarding a large-sized party.

The host conceded to co-operating after a warning from police, The Globe and Mail reported.

But when officers visited again, they noticed approximately 30 people packed inside the one-bedroom suite who were not practicing social distancing, and an estimated 40 to 60 attendees altogether.

The host was fined $2,300 for allegedly violating British Columbia's COVID Related Measures Act.

Police claimed that the host also failed to record the contact details of all guests to comply with contact tracing in the event a party-goer transmitted COVID-19.
