"This needs to be removed tonight!" said Pastor John K. Amanchukwu Sr.
Speaking behind the podium to board members, Pastor John K. Amanchukwu Sr. described the vulgarities found in the book titled "Push" by Sapphire and declared, "This needs to be removed tonight!"
The school board muted Pastor Amanchukwu's microphone and had him physically removed from the property by police before he could finish speaking.
Pastor Amanchukwu explained that "Push," which is available to students at Legacy High School in the school's library, depicts incest, rape, racism, pedophilia, and pervasive vulgarity.
Before the school board muted his microphone and had him removed, the pastor read passages from the book that included a father impregnating his daughter after raping her multiple times and the mother joining in on the rape.
The book is told through the young child's eyes.
"He slams his hips into me hard. I scream in pain. He comes. He slaps my thighs like cowboys do horses on TV. Shiver, orgasm in me, his body shaking. 'Say you love it.' I wanna say, 'I don't.' I wanna say, 'I'm a child.' But my pussy poppin grease and frying pan. He slammin' me again. His dick soft, he start suckin' my titties," the passage states.
"I'm 12 now. I've been knowing about that since I was five or six. Daddy put his pee pee-smelling thing in my mouth, my pussy, but never hold me. I see me. First grade, pink dress, dirty sperm stuffs on it. No one even combs my hair, but he puts his sperm in his daughter," it continues.
"I feel mama's hand between my legs, moving up my thigh. Her hand stops. She getting ready to pinch me if I move. I just lay still keeping my eyes closed. I can tell mama's other hand between her legs now."
After reading the passages, Pastor Amanchukwu called on the school board to remove the book from the school grounds.
"This needs to be removed tonight! We have men on this board. And I want to say to these men that's on this board, if you don't remove this book, you're either a punk or a pervert!" said Amanchukwu.
The school board proceeded to shut off the pastor's microphone and had him escorted off the property by at least five police officers.
Amanchukwu's passionate please comes at a time when parents and community members have repeatedly raised concerns about inappropriate books consisting of sexually explicit content available in public schools across the country.
