On Wednesday, the House Select Committee on January 6 announced that it has issued 11 subpoenas for individuals with connections to the planning of rallies and events that directly preceded the January 6 riot at the Capitol Building.
Included on the list were Women for America First founders Amy and Kylie Kremer, Cynthia Chafian who submitted the event's application for WFAF, "VIP Advisor" Caroline Wren, Maggie Mulvaney who was the "VIP Lead" and is the niece of Trump's former Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, and former Trump campaign official Katrina Pierson.
WFAF planned a number of events, including a rally at Washington, DC's ellipse on January 6, and rallies on November 14, 2020 and December 12, 2020, at Freedom Plaza in DC. The group also organized two nationwide bus tours in support of Trump and America First that the House Select Committee claims "generated interest and attendance at the Washington rallies."
"The subpoenas seek a range of records that include materials dealing with the planning, funding, and participation in the events and bus tours; social media activity of associated entities; and communications with or involvement of Trump Administration officials and lawmakers," wrote the Select Committee.
Also included in the list of those subpoenaed is the WFAF January 6 rally Project Manager Justine Caporale, Stage Manager Tim Unes, Operations Manager for Scheduling and Guidance Megan Powers, Operations Manager for Logistics and Communications" Hannah Salem, and On-Site Supervisor Lydon Brentnall.
"The subpoenas were sent to 11 individuals as part of the Select Committee's efforts to collect information from them and their associated entities on the planning, organization, and funding of those events. In letters to rally organizers, Chairman Thompson instructed witnesses to testify at depositions and to produce a sweeping range of records," wrote the committee.
According to the Daily Mail, these 11 will have to turn over all documents relating to the planning, funding, and participation in rallies preceding the Capitol riot by October 13.
"The Select Committee is investigating the facts, circumstances, and causes of the January 6th attack and issues relating to the peaceful transfer of power, in order to identify and evaluate lessons learned and to recommend to the House and its relevant committees corrective laws, policies, procedures rules, or regulations. The inquiry includes examination of how various individuals and entities coordinated their activities leading up to the events of January 6, 2021," wrote committee Chairman Bennie Thompson.
These 11 subpoenas follow an additional four issued by the committee last week for those with ties to former President Donald Trump.
These individuals are Former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, former White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications Daniel Scavino, former Defense Department official Kash Patel, and former Trump advisor Stephen Bannon.
