Pentagon identifies third soldier killed in Iran attack at US base in Jordan as Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad

The Pentagon has identified the third soldier that was killed in an Iranian attack at a US air base in Jordan. The deceased soldier, Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad, 28, was previously announced as missing.

The Department of War said in a release identifying Rampersad that the servicemember "is believed to have been killed in action on July 17, 2026, during an enemy attack at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, Jordan. The incident is under investigation. U.S. Central Command previously announced this Soldier as missing. The Soldier status was updated to a Duty Status–Whereabouts Unknown and is believed to be deceased."

Rampersad had been assigned to the 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 52nd Air Defense Artillery Brigade, 10th Army Air & Missile Defense Command in Ansbach, Germany.

The attack that took place in Jordan took the lives of two other servicemembers, who have been identified as 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas.

Four others were medically evacuated to hospitals after being injured during the attack from Iran.

The death brings the total count of soldiers lost in the war against Iran to 18 since the conflict with Iran started with Operation Epic Fury on February 28. Over 400 have been wounded in the campaign, per the Navy Times.

CENTCOM had originally announced that Rampersad was missing, but on July 19 had noted, “After a thorough search, U.S. military personnel found unidentified remains at the location earlier today. An examination process to verify the remains is ongoing."
