The incident occurred on the 4th anniversary of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps downing Flight PS752, killing 55 Canadians among its nearly 200 victims.
While questioning the Deputy PM, Menzies can be seen trying to pass the RCMP officer who then grabs hold of the reporter and says "You're under arrest for assault!"
Menzies tells the officer "How am I under arrest? You bumped into me!"
One officer told Menzies that he was "almost pushing everybody over."
"Welcome to Blackface's Canada," Menzies said while being handcuffed. "This is what they do to journalists. I was merely scrumming Minister Freeland."
He continued: "This is your Canada now folks. This is the gestapo taking Blackface's orders. Outrageous. And meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is not a terrorist organization," as he slammed the Liberals presence at a vigil for the victims.
Rebel News' Ezra Levant said "Tomorrow we sue the RCMP for false arrest, false imprisonment and assault."
True North's Andrew Lawton reported that he confirmed Menzies was released without charges.
X owner Elon Musk weighed in on the incident, replying to a tweet by Katherine Brodsky that asked "he really was falsely arrested on a trumped up charge of "assaulting an officer." Or am I missing something?" with "Sure looks that way. Fine for the officer to body block someone trying to get close to a senior government official, but false to say that he deliberately assaulted an officer."
