Police investigate teen gangbangers who brandished firearms in Chicago suburb after video goes viral

A video showing a group of black teenagers brandishing firearms in broad daylight in a Chicago suburb has gone viral, prompting a response from the local police.

The video, which was reportedly recorded in Hazel Crest, shows approximately 10 young men holding various firearms, some equipped with extended magazines, while dancing, rapping, and displaying money in public areas during the day. Some of the individuals also appear to indicate that they are gang-affiliated.

The Hazel Crest Police Department addressed the video in a community note posted to social media on Tuesday, saying authorities were working to identify those involved.

“Recently, a disturbing video has been circulating on social media with a group of approximately 10 young men with firearms of various types in the area of 170th and Bulger,” the department said, “They are professing their gang affiliation actively pointing firearms at the cameras. At this time, we do not believe that the majority of them are from Hazel Crest.”



Police said they are “actively and aggressively working with various sources to identify the subjects in the video and to hold them accountable as much as possible, both legally and civilly.”

“We have already identified a few of the subjects and we are collectively working [to] identify the others,” the statement continued. “These young men are someone's kids, they are someone's neighbor, they are someone's family member, they are someone's classmate. Someone knows who they are. It is during times like this when community policing truly matters. The police department cannot do this alone.”

“While this video is very disturbing, there does not appear to be any direct threat to the general public. The investigation will be ongoing,” the department added, requesting that anyone with information come forward to help identify the individuals.
