A person has claimed responsibility for an arson attack on electric Amazon delivery vans that took place in Portland on June 22. In total, four delivery vans were destroyed in the early morning attack. The message was posted by Rose City Counter-Info, an Antifa blog.

The message, submitted by an anonymous person, read, "amazon kills. amazon kills its own employees. amazon kills the rivers and the land. amazon kills freedom, and replaces it with a hollow consumerism designed to give the illusion of choice." The message used no capital letters.

"last night i torched a few amazon delivery vans parked near the rivian facility in portland. the vans went up in minutes and only the metal frame was left behind. no surprises, since they’re mainly made of plastic," the message added. "its easy to lose hope and feel powerless in an increasingly artificial world, and that is by design. but another life is possible, if we dare."

"four amazon vans isnt much, but it is a reminder that with just a little bit of daring and whole lot of anger and passion in your heart, you can strike back. all you have to do is choose to act: act for the planet, act for freedom, act for eachother, and most importantly act for yourself. fiery solstice greetings to all the anarchists on the run and in the shadows," the message concluded.

The incident took place at around 2:30 am in a parking lot, with multiple passerby vehicles calling in to report trees on fire near the Rivian Dealership and Service Center in the neighborhood of South Portland.

Authorities said they had to wait until the Lithium-Ion batteries in the vehicles had burned all of its fuel before they could successfully put out the blaze, given that such battery fires can be "extremely difficult to extinguish once they have reached ignition or have gone into a state of thermal runaway." Portland Fire and Rescue said there was a particular concern with smoke produced by such fires, and all responders were ordered to use protective air bottles while on scene.

A preliminary investigation determined that the fires had been intentionally set, and an arson investigation was launched. No arrests have been made.

The Department of Homeland Security launched a probe into Rose City Counter-Info in June of 2025 after ICE agents in Portland were doxed and had their personal information released.
