Oregon authorities arrested five people on Tuesday night during an Antifa direct action that shut down the streets of downtown Portland. Those arrested were taken into custody on several charges including disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, vandalism, and interfering with police. The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) said that all of the arrests made were targeted, according to a press release.

The direct action followed an anti-Trump rally at the Tom McCall Waterfront Park near the Battleship Oregon Memorial.

At 6:50 pm, an organized group of black-clad masked militants broke off from the rally and started marching through the streets on foot and bicycles, which were utilized to illegally block traffic. Officers monitoring the group observed suspects engaging in unlawful activity, including vandalizing property with graffiti, per the release.

Video footage captured demonstrators, whose faces were obscured by black facial coverings, spray painting hateful slogans on property while the rest of the crowd yelled anti-Trump and anti-police chants.

Law enforcement officers with PPB and Oregon State Police made targeted arrests of suspects. Authorities said one vehicle was stopped because police had probable cause to arrest two individuals inside the vehicle. After the arrests were made, "criminal activity stopped" and individuals continued with their march before disbanding, according to the press release.

The following individuals were arrested by Portland Police and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center: Julia Jacobson, 22, of Portland, and Andrew S. Bolen, 29, of Portland. Jacobson has been charged with second-degree criminal mischief, unlawfully applying graffiti, and attempted aggravated harassment. Bolen faces charges of second-degree criminal mischief and possession of a graffiti implement, according to police.

Portland Police published items seized by those taken into custody.

Additional protesters were arrested by the Oregon State Police Mobile Response Team, and also booked into the county jail. Their identities have been listed as Alistair M. Sidener, 19, Harmony Adcox, 31, and William Leahy, 21.

Sidener, Adcox, and Leahy were all charged with resisting arrest and Sidener was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, while Leahy and Adcox face charges including interfering with a police officer, and Leahy was charged with second-degree disorderly conduct, according to police. This marks the third criminal protest in Portland since President Trump's inauguration on January 20.

On the night of the inauguration, Antifa militants targeted an ICE detention center in Portland, Oregon. Video footage of the incident showed roughly 15 people dressed in black bloc riot gear squaring off with federal law enforcement officers outside the facility. A fire had also been ignited by the group.

Additionally, authorities reported that the Multnomah County Elections Office in southeast Portland had been vandalized earlier in the day on January 20. Journalist Andy Ngo shared video footage on social media showing 8 to 10 people wearing masks and regular street clothes smashing out the building's windows and graffitiing the property with Anarchist insignias. If they were declared a domestic terrorist organization then the federal govt could bypass local police and local government.
