To be able to attend a concert hosted by Live Nation Canada you will soon have to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to gain entry.

Speaking with The Canadian Press, a representative for the live event promoter said that the company will enforce those rules at "as many shows as possible" in Canada.

Live Nation Canada declined further questioning about the plan or a timeline on when the changes would take place.

In a separate statement, the company said that they would email ticket holders with "important information needed to plan their visit to our events."

The concert promoter's mandate comes as many venues are facing pressure to issue guidances on how they are preventing superspreader events from occurring in packed stadiums and theaters.

On Tuesday, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment announced that it will be requiring all staff and attendees to provide vaccination proof or a negative COVID test to attend events at venues and access to restaurants. A representative for MLSE said that those requirements will also be enforced at concerts held on its premises.

Live Nation Canada said the new requirement comes as a result of guidelines enforced by Live Nation at Chicago's Lollapaloza festival, which saw around 385,000 people over four days.

At least 203 cases of COVID-19 were traced back to the event, in which the promoter required vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test.

All Live Nation events across the United States will require proof of vaccination or a negative test for all events starting October 4,.

"Live Nation pioneered a great strategy with Lollapalooza - which saw over 90 per cent of attendees show up vaccinated," a statement from Live Nation Canada said. "We are working to get as many shows as possible on this model."
