It has been revealed that the prosecutor in Hunter Biden's criminal investigation pertaining to alleged illegal foreign business dealings with Ukrainian energy company Burisma is a close Biden family associate who went on to work under Delaware US Attorney General David Weiss.

Alexander Mackler, who was legal counsel to Joe Biden when he was the acting vice president under Barack Obama, not only worked in the Delaware US Attorney's office for years, but was employed during the first few months of Hunter Biden's criminal investigation, according to the Washington Examiner.

This came to light when House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Kentucky) sent a letter to the National Archives requesting unredacted emails involving Hunter Biden's foreign business dealings.

One email released by the National Archives, dated Dec. 8, 2015, reveals a discussion between Mackler and Joe Biden's then-Communications Director Kate Bedingfield in which they discussed an unflattering New York Times article about Hunter Biden's business relationship with Burisma.

In the days prior to the story being released by NYT, Mackler was copied on how to respond to the accusations, according to the emails obtained by the House Oversight Committee.

Additional emails dating back to December of 2015 reveal that Bedingfield worked with one of Hunter Biden's closest business partners, Eric Schwerin. The two reportedly discussed how to issue a response from Joe Biden's office directed to reporters that had been asking about Hunter's relationship with Burisma.

Schwerin, who was described as Hunter Biden's "most significant professional relationship" during a court hearing earlier this year, offered Bedingfield advice on how to get a reporter to allay their story about Hunter Biden's business dealings.

Schwerin was coordinating with a Burisma executive, along with Hunter Biden and their other business associate, Devon Archer, at the same time he was formulating a response with Joe Biden's office, as evidenced by private emails found on Hunter Biden's laptop.

The fact that Mackler was included in private discussions concerning Hunter Biden's Burisma work in 2015 is crucial because he later joined a prosecutorial team working on a criminal probe into Hunter Biden.

Weiss oversaw the criminal investigation, which started at the IRS in 2018 and looked into the specifics of how Hunter Biden and his business associates received millions of dollars from Burisma beginning in 2014.

Before leaving Weiss' office in May 2019, it is unknown if Mackler withdrew from the Hunter Biden case. Emails found on Hunter Biden's abandoned laptop revealed that Mackler was good friends with Hunter Biden and kept in touch with him frequently, according to the outlet.

The timeline of when the emails were sent in 2015 are of significance because Joe Biden, who has maintained he has no knowledge of his son's foreign business dealings, was traveling to Ukraine for high-profile discussions with Ukrainian leaders.

Hunter Biden and Mackler were in touch on a personal level during that time, despite the fact that Biden was still serving in the vice president's office. For instance, Mackler contacted Hunter Biden in November 2015 and requested his opinion on what Joe Biden might do with his post-vice presidency using a private email address.

Hunter Biden was in Dubai, meeting with Burisma officials on the days in early December 2015 when emails were flying on how to handle unfavorable press regarding Hunter Biden and Burisma, according to the Washington Examiner.
