Prostitute banned from having children in her home was adviser on Texas school's sex ed curriculum

A school district in Godley, Texas has removed a woman from a position she was previously selected for to make decisions for various topics including age-appropriate material for sex education after it came to light that she is a convicted prostitute.

Ashley Ketcherside advertises herself online as an escort, with one website saying her account was active just last month, Fox News reports. A judge signed an injunction in 2016 that does not permit specific children to visit any place where she may reside due to her being a "known prostitute." Ketcherside was found guilty in 2012 and 2016 of being a prostitute.

Ketcherside was serving on a School Health Advisory Council (SHAC), which school districts are required to have by Texas state law. These groups give recommendations to school boards for various health education protocols, including "appropriate grade levels and methods of instruction for human sexuality instruction." 

Godley ISD School Board trustee Kayla Lain told FOX 4: "We had no idea what was going on in her personal life. She was always very friendly and personable."

Lain explained that she had learned of Ketcherside’s past of prostitution after being briefed by Mary Lowe, who works for a nonprofit called Families Engaged for Effective Education.

Lowe said that parents initially became wary of Ketcherside upon hearing her claims of owning multiple businesses, while not being able to find out what exactly they are. This led to a self-led investigation by the parents, who discovered in a LexisNexis search that Ketcherside had an email address that matched with one posted on an escort website under the name "Lola Brea."

An escort site advertising for Lola Brea revealed that Ketcherside's profile was active last month and has client testimonials that go 10 years back. 

Ketcherside can be observed on video in a Godley Independent School District meeting that took place in October, according to Fox News. A district spokesperson said that Ketcherside's family had joined the district this year, and was selected for her position in the Long-Range Facility Planning Committee by Godley ISD Superintendent Rich Dear.

The convicted prostitute and known escort also worked as a volunteer on the Family and Community Engagement Committee, Parent Teacher Organization and Godley Athletic Booster Club, along with her husband. The district additionally noted that she leads a local cheerleading group.
