Rachel Morin’s mother calls to protect Americans after daughter's illegal immigrant killer convicted

Patty Morin, the mother of a Maryland woman brutally murdered by an illegal immigrant, appeared at the White House on Wednesday as a special guest of the press secretary to defend the administration’s efforts to deport illegal immigrants.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt invited Morin to speak and used the opportunity to criticize Democrats for their outrage over the deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Abrego Garcia was a Salvadoran national living in Maryland with alleged MS-13 ties and was deported to El Salvador despite a court order suggesting he remain in the US.

Morin addressed reporters, arguing that it is common sense to carry out deportations of individuals in the country illegally.

“Why should we allow violent criminals that have no conscience at all to murder our mothers, our sisters, our daughters?” Morin asked. “We are American citizens. We need to protect our families, our borders, our children.”

Morin also recounted the loss of her daughter, who was a mother of five, and urged the press to report on the real consequences of illegal immigration. 

“Please tell the truth. Tell how violent it really is. This is about protecting our children. It’s more than just politics or votes or just anything,” she said before leaving the room.

Morin’s appearance came just two days after a Maryland jury found Victor Martinez-Hernandez guilty of murdering her daughter, Rachel. Martinez-Hernandez illegally entered the United States from El Salvador in 2023. He was convicted of first-degree rape, first-degree murder, first-degree sexual assault, and kidnapping. He now faces life in prison.

Following the conviction, President Donald Trump issued a statement condemning the Biden administration’s handling of immigration.

"Moments ago, the Illegal Criminal, who was allowed into our Country by Crooked Joe Biden, was convicted of the heinous murder of Rachel Morin,” Trump wrote. “Rachel was a beautiful mother of five from Maryland, and her life was taken at the hands of a monster who should have NEVER been here in the first place."

"The Fake News should be focusing on the beautiful life and tragic death of this Maryland Mother, rather than the so-called 'Maryland Father,' who is actually an MS-13 Gang Member and Foreign Terrorist from El Salvador. We will never forget Rachel Morin, and are committed to protecting women like her across our Country. We will deport Illegal Murderers, Rapists, and Criminals. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN," Trump added.
