Over the long weekend there were eight people charged for breaking public health orders in Manitoba, according to CTV News.
They were charged for non-essential travel after making their way over the 53rd parallel, say Thompson RCMP.
The RCMP reported that the travellers said they were going to the Thompson area to visit family and friends and they were all aware of the travel restrictions but decided to make the trip anyway.
Seven of the travellers are from Winnipeg and one is from Dauphin. They all received a $486 fine.
Over the same long weekend, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited his out-of-province cottage at Harrington Lake, breaking his own rules against non-essential travel.
