Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger says that if Trump runs for office in 2024, the former president will rig it in his favor and end democracy in America.
Joining the “TMZ Live” chat on Thursday, the Republican congressman from Illinois warned that his party’s effort to install lawmakers in critical states could allow them to potentially certify an election for a candidate who did not win at the polls.
According to TMZ, the congressman, who will lose his seat once Democrats get rid of his district in the upcoming reshaping of the Illinois electoral map, said that the scariest thing leading up to the so-called Jan. 6, 2020 “insurrection” was the GOP memos exploring the legal technicalities of certifying elections regardless of how citizens voted.
Kinzinger told the panel that he’s trying to pass election reform, but his efforts haven’t been supported by his colleagues in Congress.
As previously reported by The Post Millennial, Kinzinger is retiring from Congress and won’t seek reelection once his district is nixed.
"I also remember during that campaign saying that if I ever thought it was time to move on from Congress, I would, and that time is now," said Kinzinger.
Following his statement, former President Trump said, “Two down, eight to go!,” referring to the Republicans who sided with the Democrats on the vote to impeach Trump on Feb 13, 2021.
