A spokesperson said Kennedy "adds his voice to those demanding clarity about all of Mr. Epstein's nefarious activities."
While there is no evidence that the independent presidential candidate knew of the accused pedophile's evil actions at the time, there are inconsistencies in his re-telling of their time together.
As the New York Post reports, Kennedy told Watters that he and his family had flown on Epstein's private jet to Florida for Easter in 1993, and to South Dakota to go fossil hunting a short time later.
He claimed to have taken the trip to Florida with his wife and two children to visit his mother, and a spokesperson clarified that the woman in question was Mary Richardson. According to the Post, at the time of the trip, Kennedy was married to Emily Ruth Black.
Likewise, Kennedy's claim that he flew to South Dakota with Richardson and four of his children was called into question, given that he didn't have his fourth child, Kyra, until 1995.
Kennedy maintained that he had never flown with Epstein without his family, and in a statement to the Post, his spokesperson pointed out that the trips "took place approximately 30 years ago, long before Mr. Epstein’s criminal behavior was public knowledge."
The spokesperson emphasized that the environmental lawyer turned politician "adds his voice to those demanding clarity about all of Mr. Epstein's nefarious activities, including the identities of powerful partners or shady entities who may have enabled or participated in his crimes."
Kennedy also claimed that it was Richardson, not he, who had forged a relationship with Epstein's girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell, however according to family friend Christina Oxenberg, Maxwell was known to the Kennedys years before Robert married Richardson.
Oxenberg, who was hired to help Kennedy plan a high society event in 1993, also revealed that the place he worked out of at that time was in Epstein's suite of offices on Madison Avenue.
She noted that the office was "populated by several female executive assistants, all of them in their early 20s and looking like flight attendants from yesteryear with tidy buns, high heels and short tight-skirted suits," adding that it was common to see Epstein and Maxwell there as well.
Oxenberg has suggested that Epstein and Maxwell purposefully tried to "trap" the rich and powerful, but that it hadn't worked with Kennedy because he only flew on the infamous private jet with his family.
