Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) are set to hold an "America First" rally Friday evening in Mesa, Arizona.
The rally itself is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the ballroom in the Delta Hotels by Marriott Phoenix near 1st Street and Centennial Way, according to local new outlet Fox 10 Phoenix. The doors open an hour before, allowing early seating.
The two Republican state lawmakers have made headlines for supporting and defending former President Donald Trump. Both congressional members are popular among right-wing constitutions and much criticized by the political left.
Taylor Green has challenged "Squad" member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to debate on the public stage. The progressive New York congresswoman accepted the offer but the debate still has yet to take place between the state representatives.
Gaetz is the subject of an investigation due to allegations of sexual happenings with minors. He denies the allegations and claims he will be cleared soon in the course of the federal probe, with which he is cooperating. He also scored no small victory in the ousting of anti-Trump personality Liz Cheney as the Republican party chair. He had been working toward that goal since last year.
Nevertheless, conservative supporters see the controversial GOP pair as freedom fighters who are standing up to the Washington elite.
