During a recent appearance on The Town podcast, Aaron Sorkin revealed that he is working on a new movie about January 6 and Facebook's role in facilitating events that culminated with a riot at the United States Capitol.

The Academy Award-winning screenwriter hinted that it could be a sequel to his successful film, The Social Network.

"Look, yeah, I'll be writing about this," Sorkin told hosts Matthew Belloni and Peter Hamby, referring to the impact Facebook has had on democracies around the world. "I blame Facebook for January 6."

He suggested that Facebook "has been, among other things, tuning its algorithm to promote the most divisive material possible, because that is what will increase engagement."

"You're going to need to buy a movie ticket," he quipped when asked why he believed the social media company was at fault for the actions of thousands of Americans.

"There's supposed to be a constant tension at Facebook between growth and integrity," he added. "There isn't. There's just growth."

Sorkin is perhaps best known for The West Wing, which served as an oasis for many leftists and Democrats during the George W. Bush administration who couldn't cope with reality and wanted desperately to believe the protagonist, President Jed Bartlett, was the true leader of the nation.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
