REVEALED: Trudeau government gave COVID relief money to orgs of white nationalist who donated to Sloan campaign

In a statement released last night, O'Toole said that Sloan's acceptance of the donation from "a well known white supremacist is far worse than a gross error of judgment or failure of due diligence."

Two groups run by self-described white nationalist Paul Fromm received COVID-19 relief funds from the Trudeau Liberals, according to Vice.

Fromm, who told CBC News that his organizations met the requirements to receive funds from the Liberals' Canadian Emergency Wage Subsidy.

"The criteria as I read it was not 'What are your politics?' The criteria is 'Are you an employer, do you have an employer number, have you been impacted by the COVID shutdown and if so, you qualify up to a certain amount," said Fromm to CBC in December.

"Given the rules, there's not much [the government] can do."

Fromm's name came back to light on Monday, after Hastings—Lennox Addington MP and former leadership candidate Derek Sloan was booted from the Conservative Party of Canada after it was revealed that he had received a donation of $130 from Fromm under a pseudonym.

In a statement released last night, O'Toole said that Sloan's acceptance of the donation from "a well known white supremacist is far worse than a gross error of judgment or failure of due diligence."

In response, Sloan tweeted: "Guess who else took a donation from "Frederick P Fromm"?  After conducting my own investigation, I realized @CPC_HQ took a 10% cut ($13.10) from the same donation I am now possibly being expelled from caucus over.  It looks like they didn't know who this individual was either?"

"O'Toole ran a leadership campaign on fighting cancel culture and promoting a big-tent version of the Conservative party," Sloan later told CTV. "I hope that he has not jettisoned that in favour of perceived short-term political gain."
