Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr appeared before the Senate Finance Committee, during which he was grilled about no longer recommending the Covid vaccine for healthy individuals. During Senator Elizabeth Warren’s line of questioning, he said he "never promised that I was going to recommend products for which there is no indication."

"You are effectively denying people vaccines," Warren told Kennedy, to which he replied, "I’m not going to recommend a product for which there’s no clinical data for that indication. Is that what I should be doing?"

Warren replied, "What you should be doing is honoring your promise that you made when you were looking to get confirmed in this job, and that is, you promised that you would not take away vaccines from anyone who wanted them. You just changed the classification of the Covid vaccine."

Kennedy cut in, "I’m not taking them away from people, Senator," to which Warren said, "it takes it away if you can’t get it from your pharmacy."

"Most people are going to be able to get it from their pharmacy for free," Kennedy said.

Warren said again that he had made a "promise," to which Kennedy replied, "I never promised that I was going to recommend products for which there is no indication. And I know you’ve taken $855,000 from pharmaceutical companies, Senator!"

Warren continued to accuse Kennedy of taking away vaccines from those who want to get it, claiming that it would cost hundreds of dollars to get if a patient’s insurance doesn’t cover it, with Kennedy replying that he is not taking them away, people can still get them if they want to. Warren ended the argument, "So look, let’s move on. You clearly are taking away vaccines."
