Giuliani appeared remotely from his Florida residence.
On Monday, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani was found in contempt of court for not turning over assets to two Fulton County election workers as ordered by a judge after he was found to have defamed them in the wake of the 2020 election.
Giuliani appeared remotely from his Florida residence, per WSB-TV.
A judge in October ordered that Giuliani hand over his Manhattan penthouse apartment and other valuable goods to Georgia elections workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss. One such item, a signed Joe DiMaggio jersey, reportedly disappeared after Giuliani said he last saw it around September 11 in his Manhattan apartment.
According to Fox 5, Giuliani’s testimony began on Friday, where he testified in the Manhattan courtroom for around 3 hours. Giuliani testified on Monday that he had withheld some materials, claiming that some requests were inappropriate, overly broad, or were a "trap" from the plaintiffs’ attorneys.
Giuliani also cited the strain of other ongoing criminal and civil cases which take up much of his time and resources, with upwards of 40 percent of the time being "impossible to function in an official way."
The plaintiffs’ attorneys argue that for the assets that Giuliani has handed over, such as his apartment and Mercedes-Benz, he has not provided the necessary paperwork to monetize them. Other sports memorabilia and watches have not been handed over.
Attorneys claimed in court filings that "not a single dollar" has been transferred from Giuliani’s nonexempt cast accounts.
