"My advice to him is to step down and do something else."
Giuliani told the New York Post, "My advice to him is to step down and do something else." Giuliani said that Mamdani, who he branded a "Communist — right out of Karl Marx," was not prepared for the job and was a "supporter of Muslim extremism."
He said in reference to a photo taken of Mamdani with radical Imam Suraj Wahhaj, "The imam he was with is a strong supporter of terrorism." He added, "I’m not worried that he’s Muslim. I’m worried that he supports Muslim extremism."
“You think the federal government will give this guy a security clearance?” Giuliani said. “Zohran Mamdani is a serious security threat to the United States of America. He’s a Communist and a sympathizer for Muslim terrorism.”
Mamdani won the election earlier in November, defeating former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa. Giuliani said his other advice to Mamdani was to "love America."
Since being elected, New York Governor Kathy Hochul has pushed back on Mamdani’s plans to make bus rides in the city free, saying, "I cannot set forth a plan right now that takes money out of a system that relies on the fares of the buses and the subways. But can we find a path to make it more affordable for people who need help? Of course, we can."
Mamdani has also said that the New York City Police Department "will continue to not be of assistance to ICE whenever they are trying to terrorize New Yorkers across the five boroughs."
“I think that it's important to continue a separation between NYPD and ICE, and I think it’s important to bring an end to a chapter which Eric Adams said on national TV, where he opened the door to civil immigration enforcement,” he added.
