The hotel was surrounded by blackout fencing and security guards, appearing as if the hotel was under construction.
In a new report from Turning Point USA's Frontlines, the Ramada Suites in the Mission Valley community of San Diego was found to be housing illegal immigrants who would stay there temporarily before going to the airport, reportedly on the taxpayer's dime.
A makeshift facility was seen in footage taken by Frontlines' Kalen D’Almeida, with the hotel surrounded by blackout fencing and security guards, appearing as if the hotel was under construction.
"The operation is being run by the Catholic Charities Dioceses of San Diego and is also reportedly funded by taxpayers," a caption on the footage of the report read on X.
San Diego already had been housing illegal immigrants in a facility in Crowne Plaza, which had received $28 million in taxpayer money. That facility was moved to what was up to the time of the report an "undisclosed location." The report from Frontlines alleges that the new location of the facility is the Ramada Suites.
In an email sent to the Catholic Charities Dioceses of San Diego, Frontlines asked questions regarding the number of immigrants in the facility, why it has been kept hidden, and asking for other details about the site. As of the time of their report, nobody had responded with comment.
Footage showed illegal immigrants, including women and children, sleeping on cots, and Frontlines was able to confirm the migrants were being transported to the airport by private buses to go elsewhere.
D’Almeida pressed someone who appeared to be an employee of the organization running the facility with questions, but the employee declined to answer and told him the facility could take down their contact information.
