The San Francisco city government is now recommending suspension with no pay for the holdouts in the police and fire departments and other first responders who refuse to report whether they have been vaccinated or not.

This is in addition to the upcoming "vaccine passport" restrictions which will take full effect on Friday, similar to other vaccine requirement measures in cities like New York City and New Orleans.

On Thursday, London Breed, San Francisco's mayor, said to the media, "The goal is not to punish people, the whole point is education, and to make sure everyone does their part," according to local outlet ABC 7,

Not everybody is in agreement with the city's new and strict vaccination-related measures, however.

"If you want to take that chance it's on you and I don't think the government or city or whoever should force it upon you and say you can't go somewhere because you're not vaccinated," said one couple visiting the city when interviewed.

Other states, such as Texas and Florida, have passed legislations specifically prohibiting "vaccine passport" and mask mandates from being enacted at the local level.
