Sen. John Fetterman to get $368,000 to fund 'Built By Us' podcast in new $1.2 TRILLION spending bill

The podcast's YouTube channel has 101 subscribers and the host of the podcast is a Democrat running for Lancaster City Council.

In the 1,000+ page and $1.2 trillion dollar spending package to fund the government through fiscal year 2024, Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) made an earmarked request to fund the "Built by Us" podcast with $368,000. The podcast has 101 subscribers on its YouTube channel.  

The spending package's addendum for financial services and general government appropriations has an earmark of for the $368,000 project as going to ASSETS in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, courtesy of Fetterman.


ASSETS in Lancaster is "non-profit organization focused on transforming communities through business" made up of a "diverse team of innovators with extensive experience in entrepreneurship, social change, and economic development."

In a press release from Fetterman's office about the request in the appropriations package, the project description for “Built by Us” states that it is to "support women- and minority-owned small businesses through technical assistance and incubator-type services." 

On the ASSETS website, the projects bearing the name "Built by Us" is a podcast that says in its description, "Welcome to ‘Built by Us,’ the podcast brought to you by ASSETS and that shines a spotlight on the inspiring entrepreneurs of Lancaster County." 

"We’re thrilled to have you join us on this journey. In this podcast, we'll be exploring the stories, the triumphs, and the challenges of the incredible individuals who are shaping the future of Lancaster County." 

The latest episode of the total 8 episodes, is an interview with Chef Oliver Saye on the Cuisines of the West African Diaspora.  

CEO of ASSETS and hosting the podcast is Jaime Arroyo, who is also a Democratic candidate running for City Council in the City of Lancaster. 



Arroyo can also be seen in a Facebook post with Fetterman's wife Gisele during a Get Out The Count effort for the 2020 Census.  



The caption read, "Thank you to our Census 2020 Ambassador and Second Lady of Pennsylvania Gisele Barreto Fetterman, CASA Pennsylvania State Director Thais Carrero, Councilman Jaime Arroyo, Councilman Ismail Smith-Wade-El, City and County Officials for helping us Get Out The Count - GOTC in Lancaster City this morning!"
