"Look, everybody knows what kind of climate the far left is trying to fuel. One that is antithetical, antithetical to the rule of law," said McConnell.

Speaking from the Senate floor on Tuesday morning, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said that whoever leaked the Supreme Court draft opinion on Roe v Wade "knew exactly what it could bring about."

"Whoever committed this lawless act knew exactly what it could bring about," said McConnell.

"The Justices already require security. Less than two weeks ago an unbalanced person lit himself on fire on the Court steps. Less than three years ago, a liberal mob tried to storm the Court, shoving past law enforcement, and pounding on the doors," he continued.

"Look, everybody knows what kind of climate the far left is trying to fuel. One that is antithetical, antithetical to the rule of law," he concluded.

Following the leak of the draft document last night by Politico, in which Justice Samuel Alito wrote that "Roe was egregiously wrong from the start," protestors descended upon the nation’s highest court.

Shortly after the document began spreading across the internet, fences were placed on Supreme Court grounds in anticipation of such protests.

The Supreme Court has since confirmed that the document is authentic, but noted that "it does not represent a decision by the Court or the final position of any member on the issues in the case."
