Finklestein’s departure from the White House follows in the footsteps of senior advisor Anita Dunn, who recently left to work with the pro-Harris super PAC Future Forward. Dunn was the first major advisor to Biden to announce her move from the White House following Biden's decision not to seek a second term, thus paving the way for Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party nominee for president.
Finkelstein will serve as an advisor for the same organization, which is preparing to implement an advertising blitz worth over $300 million, according to a report by Politico. Finkelstein has served in the White House as a special assistant to Biden and Dunn’s chief of staff. He also worked on Biden’s campaign launch last spring, organizing messages including responses to recent Supreme Court decisions and the rollout of political legislation.
Additionally, Finkelstein was a senior member of Biden’s advertising team during the 2020 campaign.
“Jordan has served President Biden since joining his campaign in 2019 and is as close to indispensable as any person I have ever worked with,” said Dunn in a statement. “He is a good colleague whose work ethic, judgment, and intelligence are matched only by his even temperament.”
With Biden now a lame-duck president, it is likely that more senior advisors will follow in the footsteps of both Dunn and Finkelstein and take up new positions designed to help Harris get elected in November.
