Attorney General Ken Paxton of Texas stated that six additional states have joined up with Texas in challenging the electoral procedures in four battleground states. The suit alleges that proper electoral law was not followed in those states.

Texas filed the lawsuit against the states of Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin for violations of the US Constitution as well as various allegations of election fraud.

According to local outlet KHOU11, South Carolina, Utah, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and just recently South Dakota have all formally joined the legal action.

"The State of South Dakota believes in free and fair elections," the attorney general's office said in a statement. "Our office has received thousands of calls and emails from concerned citizens and we have listened to our constituents and voters. That is why South Dakota has, today, joined the Amicus Brief of the State of Missouri in support of State of Texas v Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, State of Georgia, State of Michigan, and State of Wisconsin," according to local news.

The Trump campaign has also already joined forces with Texas in the proceedings.

Should the Supreme Court decide to hear the case, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) has said that he would make the oral arguments on behalf of petitioners Rep. Mike Kelly and Congressional candidate Sean Parnell.

The suit claims that the defendant states violated the Electors Clause of the Constitution because voting procedures and rules were changed through the state's executive powers, not the legislature.

The suit also alleges that the voting rules were inconsistent throughout each of the individual states, and that there were a number of "voting irregularities."

The legal documents specifically cite things such as last-minute changes by the four defendant states, as well as unlawful ballot applications, and many other suspicious tactics and occurrences that could have served to skew the outcome of the elections.

"Texas continues to lead the fight to protect election security and integrity, and today I gladly welcome Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina and Utah to this historic endeavor. By flouting state and federal election laws, the defendant battleground states have tainted the integrity of citizens’ votes across the entire nation," Paxton said in a release Thursday morning.

"To restore trust in the integrity of our election process, we must tirelessly defend its security and hold accountable those who discarded our Constitution for their own convenience. Texas is proud to have these states by its side in shining the bright light of justice," said Paxton.
