A new poll from Siena College has revealed that socialist candidate for New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani holds a 19-point lead over independent candidate in the race Andrew Cuomo. This comes as Mamdani has been on an anti-Trump speaking tour around the city’s five boroughs.

The poll found that 44 percent of New York City respondents would vote for Mamdani if the election were held that day, while 25 percent said the same of Cuomo. In third place was Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa, with 12 percent, followed by incumbent Mayor Eric Adams, at seven percent.

When split by ethnicity, 44 percent of white respondents said they would cast their ballot for Mamdani, the most for any single candidate. Mamdani also drew in the majority of Latino respondents, with 58 percent saying they would vote for him. Cuomo drew in the most black voters for any single candidate, with 40 percent saying they would vote for him.

The poll also found that 37 percent of respondents statewide had an "unfavorable" opinion of Mamdani, while 38 percent had a favorable opinion. An additional 34 percent did not have an opinion. In regards to Cuomo, 61 percent had an unfavorable opinion, while 29 percent had a favorable opinion.

The poll was conducted between August 4 and 7 of 813 New York state registered voters, with 39 percent of respondents being from New York City.

Mamdani is currently on a "Five Boroughs Against Trump" tour throughout the city, hitting Manhattan on Monday and Brooklyn on Tuesday. He is set to visit the remaining three boroughs through the end of the week.

Mamdani said on Monday, "There is no borough that will be free from Trump's cruelty. We will feel the pain of this legislation, whether we are in Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens or Staten Island, and we will shine a light this week and every week on the costs of this vision that is coming out of Washington, DC," per Fox News.

Mamdani has tied Cuomo to Trump in recent weeks. He said on Monday, "We see far too many parallels between Donald Trump and Andrew Cuomo, far too many stories that make clear that both administrations have been characterized by corruption, by a sense of impunity, by an inability of an executive to understand that no means no, a prioritization of the interests of billionaires over working people, and an agenda that is driven by little else beyond the retention and accumulation of power."
