The student TV network at the University of Delaware (UD) recently gave "special thanks" to "Charlie Kirk's Killer" in the closing credits to one of its shows. The student network, STN49, also had a number of other flippant shoutouts in the credits, such as "violence," "pollution," and others.

The mention of "Charlie Kirk's Killer" in the "Special Thanks" section of the credits was pointed out by Delaware GOP executive director Nick Miles, who posted a clip of the credits. The incident comes just weeks after the assassination of Kirk at Utah Valley University. Miles said of the credits, "University of Delaware’s STN49, advised by the Comms Department, aired 'The Biweekly Show' with that credit. After students noticed, it was deleted and reuploaded. I’m told the department wanted it to 'go away quietly.' No accountability just a cover-up. It was produced under faculty oversight, funded by the university, and greenlit through a sanctioned program. Who approved this and what consequences will follow?"

The credit mention has since been removed by the network. According to a set of bylaws for the student TV network, the organization is overseen by a "faculty adviser."

"The University of Delaware unequivocally condemns the deeply offensive and insensitive language that appeared in the rolling credits of the live broadcast of a comedy program that was produced by the student-led television station," the university told the Daily Caller.

“Following the live-streamed comedy show, a member of the station immediately raised concerns among student peers about offensive language in the credits. Recognizing the negative impact of that language, the group decided within hours of its original broadcast to remove the rolling credits before posting the content to their site," UD added.

“We want to state clearly that UD does not condone the use of any language that diminishes the value of human life,” the university continued. “Respect and civility are core University values. UD remains committed to fostering opportunities for dialogue about civility and the responsibilities that come with free expression in a diverse and inclusive community.”

The Delaware Republican Party said in a press release, "The Party is calling on the University of Delaware to launch a transparent investigation, release the findings to the public, and implement measures to prevent future incidents."
