Native American man in superhero costume charged with sex abuse of homeless people in Oregon

Black Elk was charged with six counts of sex abuse in the first degree, two counts of attempted sex abuse, and 19 counts of public indecency.

On January 12, a man in Eugene, Oregon was arrested and charged in connection with the sexual abuse of numerous homeless people.

Reginald Luke Black Elk III, 29, was said to have carried out the alleged crimes while wearing a "unique" red and black superhero costume.

According to the Eugene Police Department, Black Elk was charged with six counts of sex abuse in the first degree, two counts of attempted sex abuse in the first degree, and 19 counts of public indecency.

Black Elk's arrest came following a "lengthy investigation regarding allegations that [he] committed sexual crimes targeting unhoused individuals" while wearing a "unique superhero costume" that "included a cape and eye mask."

The EPD has called on anyone in the community who "may have encountered someone matching this description and engaged in suspicious behavior" to contact Officer Jordan or Detective Cooper via email at ajordan@eugene-or.gov or tcooper@eugene-or.gov, respectively.
