A Portland man was arrested on Friday in connection with a string of violent robberies across the city. Harold P. Griffin III, 34, has been charged with two counts of robbery in the first degree, assault in the second degree, assault in the fourth degree, and fraudulent use of a credit card.

Griffin was apprehended just hours after Portland Police sent out a press release.

In one incident that took place on March 13, Griffin was caught on camera beating another man with a golf club outside a cafe downtown before pouring hot coffee on him, kicking him in the head, and making off with his backpack.

While authorities did not reveal the name of the cafe, The Post Millennial's Andy Ngo was able to determine that it was Less and More Coffee, a small kiosk-like shop at the corner of Southwest 5th Avenue and Southwest Salmon Street.

"That is not relevant to the incident and I will not release that information," a Portland Police spokesperson told Ngo when asked about the name of the coffee shop.

"I'm aware that online criticism of the employees has been fierce," they added, "and I want to be on record as saying that the employees did just what they should have. They stayed back, attempted to deescalate the situation by giving the suspect his coffee, and were good witnesses so the police could handle this situation."

"That violent attack took place in less than a matter of seconds, involved a suspect who is about 6'3" and 215lbs who was armed with a golf club and had already assaulted someone at random," they continued. "Anyone who is in that situation should carefully weigh the likelihood of success before they inject themselves."

The following day, another man was found unconscious and robbed on the sidewalk near West Burnside Street and Southwest 5th Avenue, and authorities believed Griffin to be the suspect in that incident as well.

According to police, the victims in both assaults were taken to hospital. While the former has since been released, authorities did not comment on the status of the latter.

As Ngo reports, while on the run from authorities, Griffin was convicted of felony robbery in a neighboring county. Under Oregon law, he was eligible to have that felony reduced to a misdemeanor, and only sentenced to two years probation.

Police stated that Griffin may have been involved in other attacks, and asked that anyone with information contact their tip line.
