Suspected California serial killer Wesley Brownlee has been accused of murdering a seventh man, according to an amended criminal complaint filed by prosecutors in San Joaquin County Court on Tuesday.

Brownlee allegedly shot Mervin Harmon in Alameda County on April 16, 2021.

In addition to the killing of Harmon, Tuesday's amended complaint accuses Brownlee of murdering Paul Yaw, Salvador Debudey Jr, and Juan Alexander Vasquez, and attempting to murder homeless woman Natasha LaTour. The complaint also lists Juan Alexander Vasquez, Lawrence Lopez, Juan Carlos Carranza-Cruz as victims.

Brownlee had been suspected of murdering Yaw, Debudey Jr, and Vasquez, as well as attacking LaTour, but had not been formally charged until Tuesday.

District Attorney Tori Verber Salazar initially announced the charges against Brownlee after he was arrested by Stockton Police Department on October 18. Judge Soldati remanded Brownlee to custody, and he is set to return to court on January 3 for further arraignment.

"The San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office continues to collaborate with our local law enforcement agencies to ensure justice for these victims," Salazar said in a press release. "We would like to thank the community for their support and law enforcement for their diligent investigation and apprehension of the suspect."

According to Fox News, Brownlee allegedly ambushed his victims under the dark of night in parks and on the streets, with the first shooting taking place in April 2021. Following a brief hiatus in the early months of summer of 2022, Brownlee allegedly committed five murders between July and September.

"Our surveillance team followed this person while he was driving," Stockton Police Chief Stanley McFadden said. "We watched his patterns, and determined early he was on a mission to kill."

LaTour, the only known survivor of Brownlee's alleged aggression, said he was silent as he approached her and began shooting. No motive has been publicly revealed for any of the incidents.
