"Burn a Tesla, Save Democracy."
Chants of "Elon Musk has got to go" and others were shouted outside a Tesla showroom in the Big Apple. A banner being held up by multiple protesters that read, "Burn a Tesla, Save Democracy," was seen on video taken by Savanah Hernandez at TPUSA's Frontlines.
Hernandez reported that the Tesla showroom was "surrounded on all sides" in New York.
Along with the call to violence on the banner, two other protesters were seen in masks wearing cardboard cutout Tesla cars, depicting the vehicles getting burned and destroyed. This comes as there have been a slew of attacks on the company, often targeting the cars with Molotov cocktails and arson.
Other signs read, "Let them eat Teslas" and others called the Tesla vehicles, "swastikas." The calls for burning the vehicles come as there are hundreds of planned "Tesla Takedown" protests planned for Saturday.
According to NBC News, there are over 200 planned "Tesla Takedowns" planned. Some aside from New York City are happening in Illinois, Virginia, and other states around the country. One protester told reporters at the demonstration that she is living in fear of dictatorship because of Musk, who has been helping to scale back the reach of government with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
At one Virginia protest, a woman being questioned by the Daily Caller flipped off the outlet's staff and said a reporter asking them questions was getting "in her face."
"I’m frightened, not for me, I’m old, but people your age and younger. We are living on the edge of an oligarchy, a dictatorship. If we don’t say something about it — we’re doomed," JF Garcia told reporters. Garcia held a sign that said "Dump Musk Now" and had a picture of a dumpster on fire.
