"Do not open the door if an immigration agent is knocking on the door.”
Congressman Colin Allred (D-Texas) distributed cards during a recent campaign speech that offered instructions to illegal immigrants on how to evade law enforcement and deportation.
The “Know Your Rights” cards were handed out by Allred, who is currently running for US Senate against longtime Republican incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz, during a campaign event with the Dallas County Democrat Party earlier this month.
Listed on the red cards underneath the heading “You have constitutional rights” are a set of five bullet points that include:
"Do not open the door if an immigration agent is knocking on the door,” "Do not answer any questions from an immigration agent if they try to talk to you. You have the right to remain silent," "Do not sign anything without first speaking to a lawyer” and “If you are outside of your home, ask the agent if you are free to leave and if they say yes, leave calmly.”
The final instruction orders illegal aliens to “Give this card to an agent.”
The cards were created by the Immigrant Legal Resource Center, a nonprofit organization supported by the Open Society Foundations, which was founded by controversial Democrat donor, George Soros.
Fox News reports that Congressman Allred has a track record of voting against legislation that would have strengthened border security. Most recently, he abstained from a House vote on the legislation and later told CBS News that he would not have supported it had he been present.
The historic crisis at the US southern border has greatly impacted the state of Texas since President Biden took office in 2021, with more than 7.3 million illegal immigrants pouring through the president’s wide-open border.
Earlier this year, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott invoked the invasion clause of the US Constitution, which granted Texans the right to self-defense.
Allred’s Republican opponent, Sen. Ted Cruz, has been vocal about his stance on the border crisis, which calls for increased security to thwart the invasion. Cruz also supported Governor Abbott following his invocation of the invasion clause—while Allred condemned the governor’s move.
