In what authorities currently believe was a clear-cut case of self-defense, an unidentified mom in San Antonio shot and killed a man who had just broken into her family home.

The mom, believed to be between 30 and 40 years of age was with her three children at around 10 pm on Thursday night in her home on 600 Kashmuir Place in Southeast San Antonio when the incident occurred.

The assailant was shot twice in the chest, and fled the scene, but only as far as a chair in the back yard of the house, which is where police found him. He died en route to the hospital, and has since been identified as Roman Rodriguez, 41 years old, according to the Daily Mail.

Thankfully, nobody else was injured in any way during the incident.

The police investigation into the shooting is still ongoing, but the mother has not been charged with anything, and is not expecting to face any charges.

Under Texas's "Castle Doctrine" laws, citizens have comprehensive blanket authorization for the use of force, even, in most cases, deadly force, in the event of someone breaking into their own private property, or attempting to do.
