Elon Musk's Tesla just unveiled its new Roadster, which can hit 60 miles per hour under one second—it can fly and drive upside down. The collective response is that this vehicle is awe-inspiring.

The absolute jaw-dropping display was the most viral thing on social media by Friday morning after the release. The video showcasing the Roadster accelerating up a ramp and jumping off upside down has racked up over 51 million views on X.
"Turns out the future does have flying cars," Musk said. The tech mogul has long teased the production of the Roadster, saying consistently that the company would produce a flying car. In an interview with Joe Rogan in November, 2025, he said, "We're getting close to demonstrating the prototype." He added that the product demonstration would "be unforgettable."
When he was asked why he wanted to make a flying car, Musk responded, "My friend Peter Thiel once reflected that the future was supposed to have flying cars, but we don't have flying cars." When asked to explain what he meant further, Musk replied at the time, "I think if Peter wants a flying car, he should be able to buy one."
Users online reacted in awe of the project, giving major plaudits to Musk as well as the innovation possible in America. "Only in American will you see something like this, only because of one person and the team he built. Europe could never. Russia could never. China could never (well, they could, only after seriously copying)," one user said.
"The most amazing thing about this car is not that it can fly, that was proven when a grain silo took of, hovered and landed. The most amazing thing was that it could drive up a wall and stick to it," another user said.
Jeremy Carl wrote, "Imagine being a lib, seeing this video and still having to pretend that Elon Musk isn't awesome."
Many users posted in response, "The future is here."
Tesla's stock jumped over 1 percent when the markets opened up on Friday.
