On Tuesday afternoon, six of the 12 jurors needed for Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s falsified business documents case were sworn in.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams told reporters when asked if the jurors could be fair toward Trump, "This city is a fair city, and that’s why they on the jury duty."

The six jurors were sworn in on Tuesday afternoon, according to CNN

Prospective jurors were asked a series of questions to determine their eligibility, including whether they have attended pro or anti-Trump rallies, whether they have followed Trump on social media, and whether they or a close friend or relative have volunteered with Trump’s campaign.

A total of 96 people were selected as potential jurors, with around half of them being dismissed on Monday.

Trump previously sought a change of venue ahead of the trial’s start date, with his attorneys arguing that Trump could not get a fair jury in New York. A New York appeals court denied the request.

According to The Hill, Trump’s lawyers argued that the trial should take place not in Democrat-controlled Manhattan but in Staten Island instead, where Trump won in both 2016 and 2020.

Judge Lizbeth Gonzalez handed down her ruling after she heard arguments from both Trump's lawyers and those from the DA's office.
