"I've had my account for years so I have to go through every single video just to turn it off. It has been hours."
The setting, which gets enabled automatically, including for content uploaded years ago, and there's no site-wide option to disable it. Content creators must access each video separately, click the three dots, navigate to privacy settings, and turn off the third toggle.
X user Unreal Dreamer said of the change, “You now manually on every TikTok post need to turn off the allow ai to remix feature Otherwise it’s on by default everything you upload a TikTok, and said content can be fed into AI.”
Another user said that she has had her account for years, and has spent hours just turning off the setting on each video she made.
“Tiktok just toggled 'Allow AI to remix content' on every single video. I've had my account for years so I have to go through every single video just to turn it off. It has been hours. How is this legal??”
This feature appears alongside the existing "Allow reuse of content" setting, which already handles Duets, Stitches, stickers, and Story additions. This new toggle just permits AI usage.
This marks another instance of an AI feature catching creators off guard. In December, X's Grok image-editing feature generated similar frustration when users discovered their content could be utilized by AI editing without simple opt-out options, per PiunikWeb. That situation was eventually resolved. TikTok hasn't released any public information about the new feature.
Currently, the solution requires manual effort, going to each video one by one in order to switch off the AI function on the mobile app.
