A man who allegedly posted a TikTok video threatening to hunt down ICE agents is now claiming his account was “hacked” after the Department of Homeland Security publicly flagged the clip.
On Friday, DHS shared a video that appears to be originally posted by a TikTok user named @floridanamedjit. The clip showed the masked individual with a caption that read, “ICE We’re on the way. Word in the streets cartels put a $50K bounty on y’all.”
The post appeared to reference recent reports that Mexican cartels have placed bounties on ICE and Border Patrol agents, with some offering up to $50,000 for the assassination of high-ranking officials.
DHS posted the video on X and wrote, “If you threaten or lay hands on our law enforcement officers we will hunt you down and you will find out, really quick. We’ll see you cowards soon.”
Following the warning, the TikTok user responded on Instagram, denying he had made the post and claiming his account had been “hacked.” He added that the post in question was actually about Iran, not ICE.
“So rumors going all over social media about a recent video post that was posted off my TikTok and Instagram,” the user wrote. “I did not post that video or the caption on that video my account was hacked if you recieved any messages from me from anywhere that wasn't me.”
DHS has not confirmed whether it is investigating this specific user. However, the incident comes amid a growing trend of threats made against ICE agents on social media. This week, DHS announced the arrest of an illegal immigrant from Mexico who was offering $10,000 bounties for the murder of ICE agents on TikTok.
