Muslim leader who celebrated the Hamas terrorist attacks of October 7, 2024 was a frequent guest of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz on at least five occasions. This revelation come as Jewish Americans, who have historically leaned more Democrat, have begun supporting Donald Trump in larger numbers due to the Biden-Harris administration's waffling on support for Israel. Harris has been particularly critical of Israel as the nation defends itself against terrorists.

The imam, Asad Zaman, of the Muslim American Society of Minnesota joined other Muslim leaders during a 2023 meeting with Walz's office regarding mosque security in the state of Minnesota. On another occasion, Zaman attended a May 2019 event that Walz planned for Ramadan. In April 2019, Zaman gave the invocation before Walz gave his state address, the prayer came just months after he called for an end to a government shut down at the time in January during a press conference with Walz.

Zaman, from Bangladesh, said on Oct. 7 last year that he “stands in solidarity with Palestinians against Israeli attacks.” The day of the terrorist attacks against Israel from Hamas also saw the slaughter of 1,200 Israeli, men, women and children, with around 250 taken hostage by the terror group. He shared an image of the Palestinian flag in response to a post that day that said, “Palestine has the right to defend itself.”

Zaman has shared official Hamas press releases on his social media over the years, with one reading, "Hamas mourns Jamaat-e-Islami leader Nizami." He also spread pro-Nazi propaganda that said, "As many as 150,000 Jews served in Hitler's military."

When Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL) Chairman Ken Martin posted on social media last year on October 10 that he was “beyond heartbroken” to know that Israelis were taken hostage, Zaman replied that the DFL "cannot be joined at the hip to apartheid Israel and still hope to court the Muslim vote."

The ties to Zaman could post a problem for the Harris-Walz campaign, given that the Democratic Party has alienated Jewish voters due to the far-left base of the party supporting Palestinian protesters and even Hamas terrorists, in addition to the Gaza camp protests on college campuses, backed by high-profile Democrat politicians. Chuck Schumer, a New York senator and majority leader, pressured Israeli Prime Minister Benajmin Netanyahu to step down from his position for the country to host new elections.
