“The stories I could tell. Not the type of character you want making decisions about your future.”
Jeff Walz, the brother of Minnesota Governor and Kamala Harris’s running mate for vice president Tim Walz, has criticized his brother on social media and described him as “not the type of character you want making decisions about your future.”
The remarks were made in response to several comments on a 2023 Facebook post where Jeff Walz wrote, “We’ve just become a third-world banana republic,” presumably a reference to former President Donald Trump’s New York indictment in March of 2023. The post has received a slew of recent comments, including one user saying that he should “have a talk” with his brother, to which Jeff replied that he hasn't spoken to Tim Walz in eight years.
“I’m opposed to all his ideology. My family wasn’t given any notice [that] he was selected and denied security the days after,” Jeff Walz stated, according to Breitbart.
In response to another comment urging him to “help MAGA” by getting on stage with former President Trump to endorse him, Jeff Walz expressed that he had considered it.
“I’ve thought hard about doing something like that,” Jeff Walz said. “I’m torn between that and just keeping my family out of it. The stories I could tell. Not the type of character you want making decisions about your future.”
Tim Walz was recently tapped to be Harris’ running mate and was presumably chosen in an attempt to broaden her appeal, especially among more rural and white voters. However, Walz has faced a series of criticisms, including allegations of stolen valor for embellishing his military career. In an interview on CNN Thursday night which featured both Walz and Harris, Walz claimed that he had misspoke when he claimed he carried “weapons in war” despite never being deployed to a warzone.
