The New York Police Department has dismissed multiple officers following allegations that former Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey traded overtime shifts for sexual favors.

The firings, initiated by newly appointed Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, began with the department’s Internal Affairs Bureau (IAB). Deputy Chief Chris Morello, responsible for addressing misconduct within the department and weeding out bad cops, was among those terminated. This comes as Chief of Internal Affairs Miguel Iglesias was ousted one week prior.

The dismissals followed a report by the New York Post revealing Maddrey’s alleged misconduct involving Lt. Quathisha Epps, who reportedly earned over $400,000 this year.

“Tisch means business,” a high-ranking source told the New York Post. “She’s cleaning up the mess and putting the department back on track.” The source attributed the firings to a “lack of oversight” within the IAB.

Several other high-ranking officials in the Internal Affairs Bureau were also reassigned.

Inspector Joseph Profeta, previously leading IAB Group 1, and Inspector Michael Ricciardi of IAB Special Ops were reassigned to Patrol Borough Brooklyn North. A dozen additional IAB supervisors, including lieutenants and sergeants, were sent to precincts across the city.

In Maddrey’s office, six members, including detectives and officers, were also reassigned.

A veteran officer with 20 years of service praised the changes, telling the New York Post, “If you want to show that you are genuinely trying to change the face of the department and get rid of all of Maddrey’s cronies, this is the best way to do it.”

Dean

Jessica Tisch was in charge of the garbage dept., then gets a promo to head the police department. Nothing DEI about that. Then there's Quathisha Epps! No need for a photo. This is DEI and demographics at it's glory.
